Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow | Dallas Texas Nov. 2, 2019

The Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow rolled into Dallas this weekend and, as the late great Wesley Willis would say, 'it whupped a tiger's ass'! The event took place at the historic Texas Theatre, location of Lee Harvey Oswald's arrest on November 22, 1963. The sold out Reboot Roadshow included a post movie Q&A with Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, with special appearance by co-star Harley Quinn Smith. VIP fans also had professional photo-ops and meet and greets included with their tickets.

Movie Synopsis: America's favorite stoners, Jay and Silent Bob, are on another cross country trek to Hollywood to stop a reboot of "Bluntman and Chronic". Along the way Jay meets his daughter, played by Kevin's daughter Harley Quinn Smith, who forces the duo to take her and her friends to CronicCon for a chance to be in the new film our heroes want to put an end to. Hilarity ensues with cameos, along the way, from View Askew alums and new faces to this universe which include Jason Lee, Shannon Elizabeth, Rosario Dawson, Chris Hemsworth, Justin Long, Diedrich Bader, Molly Shanon, Melissa Benoist, Matt Damon, and what seems like thousands more. My personal favorite was the return of Ben Affleck as Holden McNeil in a funny and touching scene.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is an inside joke laden, Easter egg filled, cameo extravaganza with a lot of heart. During Kevin Smith's intro to the film he said there was a moment where Jason Mewes will bring a tear to our eyes. I have to disagree, because I counted 4 times where my eyes watered up due to Jason's heart tugging performance. The movie reflects a rejuvenated post heart attack Kevin Smith and I for one am excited to see what's to come from him going forward. (Which looks like Clerks 3 and Mallrats 2)

The Q&A was filled with the usual fan-bro questions that Smith has answered many times before. However, hearing him retell his responses and trial off into other hilarious stories, in his signature way, live on stage was awesome and worth the price of admission. Jason Mewes was also hilarious on stage with his answers and told a heartwarming and hilarious story of directing his daughter in the Ben Affleck scene. Harley Quinn Smith, who was in the town filming a pilot, joined the duo on stage sporting a Reboot Roadshow tour shirt. The Q&A went over the allotted time due to the length of the answers. Once the audience left the theater, through the ally, we were greeted by patiently waiting fans in line for the second showing that wrapped around the block at 10:30pm on a cold Saturday night.

Besides the movie and Q&A my favorite part of the night was getting a hug from Kevin during my photo op and having him call me an OG for sporting my faded Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back t-shirt from 2001!

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is definitely a movie for hardcore View Askew/Smodco lovers and the Texas Theatre was overflowing with them that night. If you're a Kevin Smith fan and the Reboot Roadshow, or just the movie itself, is playing near you I highly recommend checking it out.
